Three NWALL missions come together at Manistique. The baby on the right is Savannah White, coming home with her Mom and Grandma after specialized treatment at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Just left of Savannah is Linda Zellar of Gulliver, heading to Rochester for cancer treatment at Mayo’s. On the far left is Mason Young, returning from Ann Arbor to Iron Mountain.

We received a donation of over $400 from Bob Morrell in memory of his wife, Ruth. Ruth, 88 years old, died on September 29th 2006. She worked for the Dickinson County Office of Veterans Affairs for 44 years. Ruth was also a past member of the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners and the Ford Airport Commission. Every year on Labor Day, the Oak Crest Golf Club has held a 4-man Scramble golf Tournament. Several thousand dollars have been donated to Northwood’s Airlifeline over the past several years. This year $1,030.00 was provided by Oak Crest Golf Club. The Curtis J. Brackett Memorial Fund, from Norway, Michigan made a commitment to match the account for 2006. The total donation to Northwoods Airlifeline for this year is $2,060.00. The committee from Oak Crest Golf Club responsible for this years event are as follows: Fred Flink ~ Director of Golf, Jack Underhill ~ Event Chairman, Dale Ward ~ Committee Member, Jim Flamingo ~ Committee Member. The Curtis J. Brackett Board consists of: Robert E. Johnson, Mike Tomasoski and Jay Olivares.

Dear Airlifeline,

Please accept the following donation on behalf of Manistique Area Girl Scout Troop 210 from St. Francis de Sales School. As part of a badge requirement, my 11 Girl Scout’s have been saving pennies for the past 30 days to see that “pennies really do add up.”

As a result, they saved 2,057 pennies.

The girls then decided they would like to donate the pennies to a charity and I am honored to write the check out to Airlifeline.

This troop is very familiar with your angels in the air; as you can see we have very close family and friends from St. Francis School/Parish who benefit from your organization. It is this Thanksgiving time of year that we would like to thank you for helping our friends.

We’ve transported Darcy & Mike Getzloff’s triplets Adrianna, Ava and Colten of Wilson to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital several times. They were all born prematurely and are doing well. (Pilot Dennis Whitehead really has his hands full!)

The Annual Labor Day Golf Scramble at Oak Crest Golf Course was held in September this year with $1,000 raised for Northwoods Airlifeline. The Curtis J. Bracket Memorial Fund from Norway Michigan matched the funds this year with another $1,000.

Lucas Heimerl

This is picture of a Lucas on his way back from Milwaukee from open heart surgery. I gave him the opportunity to ride with me in the front as my co-pilot. I let him fly the plane for a bit too. Needless to say, he is pretty excited about flying.

Northwoods AirLifeline received a most generous donation at Emerald Elementary School in Manistique. Kathy Brown, teacher at EES and mother of Kendra Brown, presented a check for $3371.09 to pilot Dennis Whitehead. Also pictured is NWALL Flight Coordinator and pilot Bruce Rutter, and Brenda Fleck of the Manistique Lions Club, which was instrumental in assisting the donation effort. Kendra Brown was flown over 50 times to Ann Arbor for brain tumor treatment, and has her mother for a teacher this year! The picture above shows her joyful reunion with Dennis, who had flown her downstate several times.
