Northwoods AirLifeline founder Bob Larson died peacefully February 24, 2006 in Iron Mountain on his 87th birthday. He had been ill for many years with leukemia, but stayed active on a daily basis providing guidance to NWALL as an honorary member of our Board of Directors.
His loving wife, Ruth, passed away on Mother’s Day Sunday May 10th, 2009. They are survived by their daughter Susan from Oklahoma, sons John from Illinois and Bruce from Ohio, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob was living proof that one person with a vision can change lives for the better. Thousands of patients and their families have received needed medical assistance through NWALL flights, a need that continues every day. It is appropriate that on the day of his passing our twin engine plane was flying missions to Minnesota and Illinois. We think Bob Larson would be very proud of that.
